Travel Shorts – Oregon

Like my mother, I’ve always looked younger than my age.

I know. I know. It’s a curse to be carded when you’re in your 40s.  🙂

In 1991, I was 26 years old and on a road trip up the west coast of the United States with my boyfriend. In Oregon, we came across a site where we could take an elevator down into a huge cave on the edge of the water that was filled with sea lions. Travel Shorts – Guilin, China

In 2010, I took a tour of China that included a visit to the Guilin region which is famous for the Li River. We went for a five hour cruise to view the incredible knobby limestone hills lining the river. The formations are known as Karst topography.

In 1981, I went to Spain with my school for a ten day tour. While we were there, a classmate named Annette was obsessed with getting a pair of shoes that she could say were from Spain. Travel Shorts – Moscow, Russia

In June 2010, I did a train tour of Scandinavia that ended in Russia. For my departure, I made the mistake of booking a very early flight and the airport in Moscow is over an hour outside the city.

Unless you had my taxi driver.

Yup. It was three in the morning, pouring rain and the road was more like a back country secondary road than an interstate. And my taxi driver was in a bigger hurry than I was.

He did 160 kph all the way.

I was too afraid to ask the driver to slow down. I didn’t want to distract him.
