If you like adventure travel, then a safari should be at the top of your bucket list.
I had done a couple of game drives while on tour in South Africa but I wanted a tour more focused on the game drives. The obvious choice was Kenya and Tanzania and the Eldertreks‘ tour was one of the most comprehensive tours I could find. I originally booked it in 2016 for November 2017 but had to switch it to 2018.
I waited two years for this tour and it was well worth the wait.
This tour included a number of game drives as well as cultural days and was topped off with three days in Zanzibar along with a brief visit I made to Lucerne on my way home.
We visited four parks where we saw elephants, giraffe, zebra, big cats, little cats, hippos, rhinos, crocodiles, birds and so much more. We saw the last remaining northern white rhinos, watched lions covet a kill and slept with cape buffalo snoring just outside our tents. We danced with the Maasai, hunted with the Bushmen and were kissed by a giraffe. We swam in the Indian Ocean, tried banana beer and stood on the Equator. And we were heartbroken over the obvious fate of a zebra surrounded by hyenas.
It was the ultimate adventure tour.
