Monograms Travel – Wonders of Australia

Wonders of Australia – 5 October – 3 November 2015

I’ve been looking at visiting Australia for several years. In 2012, I opted to visit New Zealand on its own rather than combining it with Australia. The combination options barely touched on each destination and I decided to do each separately so that I could make the most of the visits.

I looked at a number of tours and finally settled on Monograms’ Wonders of Australia. The tour covers Sydney, Cairns, Dawrin, Uluru, Alice Springs and Melbourne and I opted for the extension that included Hobart, Adelaide and Fiji. Continue reading “Monograms Travel – Wonders of Australia”

Insight Vacations’ Country Roads of Switzerland

Or should I say Cows, Clocks, Cheese, Chocolate, Cable Cars and Castles.

I decided at the last minute to do this tour but I had already spent some time looking for the best tour of Switzerland. I opted for this one because it was the most comprehensive tour I could find, and given the higher cost of flying to Europe in the summer, I wanted to see as much as possible. Gallipoli – In his own words

Today marks the 100th anniversary of the start of the land campaign on the Gallipoli Peninsula in Turkey. The campaign lasted from 25 April 1915 to 9 January 1916 and ended in a failure that ultimately claimed more than a hundred thousand lives.

My grandfather spent almost two months in Gallipoli as part of the only North American unit to serve in the region. Lance Corporal James Ryan had to lie about his age to join the Newfoundland Regiment and Gallipoli was his first experience in combat.  Continue reading “Gallipoli – In his own words”

Treasures of the Yucatan

24 March – 4 April 2015

I decided on this tour after reading rave reviews and I can see why. After more than a dozen tours with Trafalgar, this one was as close to flawless as a tour can be. Our guide, Francisco Moo, was amazing, the hotels were in great locations and the food something that has to be experienced – especially the “green” sauce.  Continue reading “Treasures of the Yucatan”

Panama, the Canal and Beyond!

Panama, The Canal and Beyond and Colonial Cartagena

November 2014.

The Panama Canal has an allure to all travelers. It’s on all our Bucket Lists. The only question I had was how to see it – by transiting it on a cruise ship or via a land tour. Not being a fan of cruises and seeing that the Trafalgar tour had the extension to Cartagena, Colombia, I decided to go the land route and was not disappointed.  Continue reading “Panama, the Canal and Beyond!”
