Storm Chasing Tour 3 Day Seven

19 May 2019

“What does the Texas Panhandle have to do with pots?”

Woodward, OK to Amarillo, TX (284 km)

Today was an off day as we all eyed the moderate risk for severe weather the next day.

They expected the threat to go to high for the next day.

We left just before noon and headed towards Amarillo. We stopped in Shattuck, Oklahoma to visit the windmill museum.

The town had been in the path of the Woodward tornado in 1947. A man at the museum told us about his memories of the tornado.

Chris took our group photo taken among the windmills.

There was also an example of a sod house.

Complete with interior.

We stayed about an hour while the guides kept an eye on the forecasts.

From there, we moved on to Canadian, Texas, for lunch. This was the one place where I could say “I Am Canadian” and no one would be the wiser.

We pulled into the Sleep Inn in Amarillo around four and the first thing I checked was to see if they had HBO.

So, while most went for a steak dinner, I settled in to get caught up on the photos and watched the series finale of Game of Thrones.
