“This is an entirely different forecast altogether.”
Wichita to Norton, Kansas (427 km)
I was up at six and had four hours to run through the photos from the day before. I got a nice big bowl of oatmeal and brought it back to my room so as to get as much done as possible.
The forecast for the weekend remained very optimistic. In fact, Accuweather stated that in the twelve year history of the Storm Prediction Centre’s Convective Outlook, they had never seen a forecast go eight days into the future with severe weather potential.
We stopped at Walmart for a half hour and then drove two hours west, stopping to eat at Maria’s in Great Bend. I had the chicken special and it was very filling.
We continued northwest towards Hays and then took the highway to Wakeeney before we turned north again. By this time, storms were showing up on the horizon and on the radar, but they didn’t advance far enough to be viable targets and there was nothing else to chase. Our eyes were all on the next few days and we were in good position.
We stopped at Norton near the Nebraska border and checked into the Sleep Inn.
I loved the bed spreads.
