Ode to Bob

Test Post.

Well, after two weeks immersed in my WordPress for Dummies book, I’ve managed to put something together. Still working on it. That is, when I can. I’ve been waiting to have my gall bladder out for a couple months now. Almost got it out last week but an earlier surgery went too long and I got bumped. This whole affair has brought my life to a bit of a standstill, but it does give me time to work on creating this blog.

Actually, waiting to get the GB out has occupied so much of my life, I’ve given it a name.

Bob.

It sounds so much better than gall bladder.

Of course, there’s a reason farmers don’t let their kids name the animals they are raising for dinner. A sort of attachment can occur. Now that Bob’s demise is so close, I feel like I’m about to do in my own Thanksgiving turkey.

I’ve even taken to writing poetry about Bob.

And I’ll warn you now. I write fiction. I do not claim to be a poet in any way, shape or form.

Ode to Bob

Bob oh Bob, my little green friend,
The pain in my side that has no end.
Vegetable soup is all that you’ll eat,
With your love for burgers, that’s quite a feat.

Bob oh Bob, we knew you were there,
For the most part, you were nothing to fear
Then one day I’m on the phone
And my doctor says, oh there’s stones

Bob oh Bob, you had a date
I sat there all day, but the doc was late
Your flight to Fiji is on hold
For only 3 weeks, or so I’m told.

Bob oh Bob, my bud in green
Hiding in there, completely unseen
The light is coming, so I hope
But it’s not a train, it’s a scope.

Bob oh Bob, you’ll like the beach
I’ll let you go without a speech.
Lie back, have a drink with an umbrella
And always remember, you were a swell fella.

🙂

P.S. Bob’s flight for Fiji departed on 20 March 2013.
