In 2009, I took a cruise of the Greek Islands in the Aegean Sea after completing a week long tour of Greece.
When I arrived on the ship, I had a couple hours free and decided it was time to do a week’s worth of laundry. I hauled everything out of my luggage and set to work washing it all in the sink. When I was done, the room was full of shorts, jeans, t-shirts and underwear hanging from every possible spot.
Then I went to dinner.
When I returned to my cabin, I realized that my bed had been turned down and my towels formed into two swans on my bed. I looked around in horror at the thought that the cleaning lady may have seen all the unmentionables hanging around the room.
A few minutes later, a friend came to my door and I stepped outside to talk to her when one of the male porters shouted out to us in his beautiful Cuban accent, “helllllooooooo ladies!”
I crawled back into my room and hung the Do Not Disturb sign on my door for the duration of the cruise.
